VPAS, the local Area Agency on Aging, has empowered those 60 years and older with the resources and opportunities they need to lead engaged lives since 1974.  Our focus is on helping individuals and caregivers successfully navigate the changes and challenges that come with aging.  VPAS' Senior Leadership Team embraces employee feedback and input for improving the services we offer in the community in order to be relevant and timely.

Full Time Case Manager

VPAS is accepting applications for a full-time Case Manager to serve residents of Staunton and Western Augusta County.

POSITION: Case Manager

 DAYS/HOURS: Hours are 9am – 5pm Monday through Friday.  This position will start in mid-late June.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Case Manager is responsible for providing information on a wide range of topics and services to individuals 60 years and older and their caregivers including, making referrals and connecting resources to meet stated needs, determining re-eligibility for VPAS in-home services, and providing support and guidance to navigate the complex health and human services system.  They use a comprehensive person-centered assessment process to determine eligibility for VPAS in-home services.  The Case Manager is also trained and certified to provide Medicare Insurance Counseling.  The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of and contacts within the Staunton, Augusta County, and Waynesboro area, and will have demonstrated success in: 

- Working with older adults, their families and caregivers
- Conducting in-home needs assessments
- Identifying and connecting resources to meet stated needs
- Navigating Medicare, Medicaid, and/or health insurance coverage
- Developing and sustaining professional relationships
- Problem solving and task organization
- Effective verbal and written communication 
- All facets of Microsoft Office Professional 
- Working in a nonprofit environment 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience in the human services field.

Part-Time Meals on Wheels Delivery and Support 

VPAS is accepting applications for a part-time Meals on Wheels Delivery and Support position in the Staunton/Augusta/Waynesboro (SAW) region.

POSITION: Meals on Wheels (MOW) Delivery and Support (Actual position title: Team Support Specialist)

DAYS/HOURS: This position is needed Monday through Thursday.  The hours are 8:30a.m.- 2:00p.m. (5.5 hours/day) except for Tuesdays which are 8:30a.m. – 3:30p.m. (7 hours) for a total of 23.5 hours per week.

WORKSITE: VPAS, 325 Pine Ave., Waynesboro, VA 22980

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position provides support for VPAS nutrition programs by packaging meals by routes, loading boxes of meals into vehicles, transporting meals to MOW volunteer pick up locations, and delivering assigned MOW routes.  It will also provide substitute coverage for staff transporting seniors to VPAS Cafes, medical appointments, and other community destinations. The position is responsible for conducting itemized vehicle checks on VPAS vehicles prior to driving them.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates must have excellent driving skills, customer service, communication, organization and time management skills; and be able to work independently and as part of a team.  Attention to detail, compliance with confidentiality rules, and sensitivity in working with vulnerable populations are required.  Must also be able to lift and carry boxes up to 30 pounds.
