Van Driver
 
Location: East Rockingham Senior Center
Days/Hours: 7:30 am - 2:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
 
POSITION: 
Working under the direction of the Center Director, the van driver is responsible for safely transporting center members to and from ERSC; ensure vehicles are in working order and remains current with routine maintenance and inspection, and accurately complete mileage and maintenance paperwork. VPAS Van Drivers also assist with packaging HDM's as well as serving congregate meals and kitchen clean up using safe food handling practices.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
Applicants must enjoy working with older adults, have a safe driving record, exhibit safe driving practices, and work well in a small team environment.

Substitute Senior Center Host
 
Location: Staunton and Waynesboro Senior Centers, Staunton and Waynesboro VA
Hours/Days:  As needed Monday thru Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Substitute Center Host works on an as needed basis when the Center Host for either the Staunton or Waynesboro Senior Center is unavailable. The Substitute Center Host is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Senior Center in the absence of the Center Director; maintaining a welcoming friendly environment for members and guests; developing, planning, scheduling, leading and implementing Senior Center programs that promote healthy living, disease prevention, socialization and recreation, fitness, special interests, arts and crafts, technology, financial management, and other areas of interest to Center participants; and supervising volunteers.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
Persons interested in this position must have experience planning and leading programs in a group environment, coordinating volunteers, and building positive relations with community organizations. Applicant needs computer skills including: email communications, Word, Excel, and the ability to learn data entry on the VPAS system. Experience with older adults is helpful. A positive attitude, professional comportment, and desire to be part of a team are required.

Bath Community Senior Center (BCSC) seeks a caring and energetic Van Driver

Mon/Wed/Thurs. - 28 hours

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides van transportation for individuals 60 years and older to/from their homes and BCSC; completes paperwork and pre-trip, preventative, and routine van maintenance checks, weekly BCSC janitorial and maintenance duties.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience driving a 13-passenger van and working with older adults preferred; Must have good written, verbal and computer skills; valid VA driver's license and clean driving record; must be energetic, enjoy working with older adults, and be comfortable interacting with others.

East Rockingham Senior Center Meals Assistant

Location: East Rockingham Senior Center, Elkton
Hours/Days:  Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:30 am to 1 pm

 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Kitchen Assistant is primarily responsible for helping to package and serve meals for the East Rockingham Senior Center Meals on Wheels and Congregate Meals programs, and for maintaining sanitary conditions and safe food handling in the kitchen.

 

Qualifications: Persons interested in this position must hold or obtain ServSafe certification, practice safe food handling techniques, and be able to stand / walk around the kitchen for up to 4 hours and lift up to 50 pounds.
