DIRECTOR OF SENIOR SERVICES  
Valley Program for Aging Services (VPAS) seeks a Director of Senior Services for its Buena Vista, Lexington, Rockbridge County, Bath County Region. The incumbent for this 25 hours/week position is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for assuring delivery of VPAS-funded services to older individuals including in-home and community-based services and Senior Center programs. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of and contacts within the Region, and will have demonstrated success in:

  •        Working with older adults, their families, and caregivers.
  •        Maintaining high-quality programs that adhere to established requirements
  •        Managing and leading staff and volunteers
  •        Developing and managing budget
  •        Fundraising, including grant writing
  •        Developing and sustaining professional relationships
  •        Public speaking and writing for publication
  •        All facets of Microsoft Office Professional
  •        Learning and implementing new skills
  •        Working in a nonprofit environment
  •        Must be willing and able to travel within the Central Shenandoah Valley

HARRISONBURG SENIOR CENTER MEALS ASSISTANT

Location: Harrisonburg Senior Center, Harrisonburg
Hours/Days:  Thursday and Friday, 8:00 and to 10:30 am

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Meals Assistant, provides support to the Meal and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that Harrisonburg Senior Center (HSC)  homebound individuals receive a nutritious noon meal, Monday through Friday each week.  The Meals Assistant will be asked to substitute for the Meals and Volunteer Coordinator when he/she is not available.

Qualifications: Persons interested in this position must hold or obtain ServSafe certification and practice safe food handling techniques.

VAN DRIVER
Location: East Rockingham Senior Center
Days/Hours: 7:30 am - 2:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
POSITION:
Working under the direction of the Center Director, the van driver is responsible for safely transporting center members to and from ERSC; ensure vehicles are in working order and remains current with routine maintenance and inspection, and accurately complete mileage and maintenance paperwork. VPAS Van Drivers also assist with packaging HDM's as well as serving congregate meals and kitchen clean up using safe food handling practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must enjoy working with older adults, have a safe driving record, exhibit safe driving practices, and work well in a small team environment.
