Fiscal Director

POSITION:
Working under the direction of the VPAS Executive Director, the Fiscal Director supports the mission and vision of VPAS by ensuring that the functions of the VPAS Fiscal Office are carried out efficiently, effectively, and are delivered according to VPAS and governmental policy.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and at least three years of proven service in a nonprofit accounting environment. Proven experience with fund accounting and human resources management is highly desired.   Must be able to:  demonstrate knowledge of and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to work tasks;  process, interpret, and apply complex information; demonstrate strong critical and analytical thinking; prioritize and plan work activities; lead and supervise the work of others; communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; demonstrate strong interpersonal and problem solving skills; meet deadlines; and work independently and collaboratively as part of the VPAS team.  Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and must be able to learn a web-based accounting system.

Administrative Specialist

Maury River Senior Center, Buena Vista, VA
Days/Hours: Monday though Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00pm

POSTITION:
The Administrative Specialist provides administrative support for Maury River Senior Center and VPAS including responding to phone calls, providing information and referral to VPAS and community services, intake coordinator for Medicare insurance counseling services, and transportation coordination for ne Rockbridge Senior Transportation program for medical appointments.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must enjoy working with older adults, have stron computer, communication, orgranization and time mangement skills, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.  College coruse work in Englis and / or human services field.

Substitute Van Driver

East Rockingham Senior Center, Elkton, VA
Days/Hours: As needed Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm

The Substitute Van Driver provides transportation to and from the Senior Center and other destinations for individuals 60 years and older who do not have other transportation available.  The Substitute Van Driver uses safe driving practices and provides coverage when the Van Driver is not available.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be able to work independently, and have good time management skills to follow the schedule provided. Applicants must have good verbal communication skills.  Employment is contingent on a satisfactory DMV, Criminal Background, and Drug and Alcohol Screening checks, as well as completion of the VPAS Health Care provider authorization form.

Van Driver

Bath Senior Center, Warm Springs, VA
Days/Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 26 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides van transportation for individuals 60 years and older to/from their homes and BCSC; completes paperwork and pre-trip, preventative, and routine van maintenance checks, weekly BCSC janitorial and maintenance duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience driving a 13-passenger van and working with older adults preferred; Must have good written, verbal and computer skills; valid VA driver's license and clean driving record; must be energetic, enjoy working with older adults, and be comfortable interacting with others.

East Rockingham Senior Center Meals Assistant

Location: East Rockingham Senior Center, Elkton
Days/hours:  Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:30 am to 1 pm
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Kitchen Assistant is primarily responsible for helping to package and serve meals for the East Rockingham Senior Center Meals on Wheels and Congregate Meals programs, and for maintaining sanitary conditions and safe food handling in the kitchen.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Persons interested in this position must hold or obtain ServSafe certification, practice safe food handling techniques, and be able to stand / walk around the kitchen for up to 4 hours and lift up to 50 pounds.
