VPAS, the local Area Agency on Aging, has empowered those 60 years and older with the resources and opportunities they need to lead engaged lives since 1974.  Our focus is on helping individuals and caregivers successfully navigate the changes and challenges that come with aging.  VPAS' Senior Leadership Team embraces employee feedback and input for improving the services we offer in the community in order to be relavant and timely.

Substitute Van Driver

East Rockingham Senior Center, Elkton, VA
Days/Hours: As needed Monday thru Thursday, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm

Harrisonburg Senior Center and Timberville-Broadway Senior Center, City of Harrisonburg and Timberville, VA
Days/Hours: As needed Monday thru Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Center Assistant/Transportation Driver
Bath Senior Center, Warm Springs, VA
Days/Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, up to 28 hours per week.


Substitute Van Driver

POSITION:
The Substitute Van Driver provides transportation to and from the Senior Center and other destinations for individuals 60 years and older who do not have other transportation available.  The Substitute Van Driver uses safe driving practices and provides coverage when the Van Driver is not available.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be able to work independently, and have good time management skills to follow the schedule provided. Applicants must have good verbal communication skills.  Employment is contingent on a satisfactory DMV, Criminal Background, and Drug and Alcohol Screening checks, as well as completion of the VPAS Health Care provider authorization form.

Center Assistant/Transportation Driver

Bath Senior Center, Warm Springs, VA
Days/Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, up to 28 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides administrative and program support to the Center Director. In the absence of the Center Director, the Center Assistant is responsible for overseeing the safe operation of the Senior Center and ensuring delivery of scheduled programs and activities in compliance with VPAS policies and procedures.
Senior Transportation Driver duties include van transportation for individuals 60 years and older to & from their homes and BCSC.  This position includes completing necessary pre-trip check-lists, computer work, preventative and routine van maintenance checks, as well as weekly janitorial duties.
Must have previous experience driving a 14 passenger wheelchair body-on-chassis van, and possess good written, verbal and computer skills.  Valid VA driver's license and clean driving record are also required.
